This is what you need for better night vision whether you have stock lights or European E-code lights. Your stock wiring has too many connectors and small wires between the battery and the lights. This causes a reduction in the voltage that is actually present at the headlight bulbs. The headlight current also causes wear and tear on the headlight switch and dimmer control. This relay harness switches power directly from the alternator or battery to the headlights through larger gauge wire of the shortest possible length. The result is more voltage at the bulbs and brighter lights. The difference is even more outstanding with the high-output lights, since this harness can feed them properly. By removing the high current from your switch and dimmer, they will last longer. These harnesses use the highest quality components and are custom fitted for each model offered. Those that are for European lights also provide the needed Euro plugs.

A note about DRL's (Daytime Running Lights): Ifyour car is equipped with DRL's, the voltage going to the low beam bulbs is reduced during the day. Adding a relay harness will defeat this feature, meaning that the bulbs will burn at maximum intensity during the day. This will result in much shorter bulb life and be an annoyance to others. You may choose to defeat the DRL feature on your model if possible or consider connecting the DRL's to different lights, if that can be done on your car.
A note about "city lights": The city lights are the small bulbs that are mounted in the main reflector near the low beam bulbs on European code headlights. They serve as parking lights in Europe and are not needed in North America, however many people wish to use them. They would connect to the parking light "hot" wire and ground. On cars where the city light is accessible and the wire does NOT go through the headlight plug (such as Mk2 VW's), no city light wiring is included in the kits. On cars where the headlights are sealed assemblies and the and all the wires go through a harness plug, city light connections are included.

NOTES for Mk4 harnesses:
* low beam and ground wires have connectors for easy connection of relay harness
** Connects into EuroWires 12-10 adapter harnesses only. Easy plug and play.
*** Connects into your 12-10 harnesses. You must be able to extract pins from the 12-pin and 10-pin male plugs in order to snap these wires in. This is difficult without the proper pin extractor tool. Alternatively, you can cut and splice the harness wires to the adapter wires, but soldering is necessary.
**** Harness leads go all the way to the bulbs. Requires cutting a notch below the bulb access door to bring the wires inside the headlight. You must state what bulbs your headlights use for LOW and HIGH beam. This kit has higher current capability because it bypasses the inferior wiring inside the headlights. Install is somewhat tedious as it requires feeding wires into the headlight while attached to the car.
***** Uses 10-pin male to 10-pin female adapters so that wiring can simply be inserted between the headlights and the car's headlight plugs. Easy install, recommended only for stock wattage bulbs.
